After
lots of consternation, I *finally* got my entry back from
the GW Two Towers LOTR contest, over a month after the contest
ended. UPS delivered the package with no prior warning from
GW: I was shocked it actually came back to me! You see,
somewhere around 3/8/03 Legolas disappeared off the radar....
Apparently
no one at GW knew where he was - the local store manager
was sure clueless (there's a shocker!) Brookhurst Hobby
(where the regional final was held) only knew someone from
GW had picked up all the minis... After weeks of frustrating
phone calls and vague assurances, lo and behold I found
out he's been partying in Baltimore all this time!!!!
The
first I saw of my mini after weeks of frustration was the
mini pictured in the GW official coverage of the contest!
He'd been sent to Baltimore, even though he lost out in
the regional final (?!?) Along the way he was handled by
a pack of rabid monkeys (aka GW staff), who managed to break
his bow, tweak the string, lose the arrow and crack him
off the shield... Lovely. I don't feel special though, this
isn't the only damage I've heard of from GW contests.
